I enjoyed your article about your son’s baseball umpiring (saw it in the Pubic Spirit). I’ve been umpiring since 1972 and am currently the President of the College Baseball Umpires Association of New England, a 140-member organization that works all college baseball games played in the New England States. Some of our members (including me) have worked the Division 1, 2, and 3 College World Series. Umpiring is a lot of fun…and, a very lucrative part-time job.
Thanks for writing such an enjoyable column and good luck to your son. Let him know….”Call Strikes”.

Thank you, Mike. I thought I had written back to you a while ago but don’t see my reply!
Caroline:
Somehow you are able to take a very routine subject and turn it into a 3 part mini-series. Nice work.
Sean
Thank you, Sean — apologies for my late reply! How are you doing? I hope you are still writing!
Congratulations on this page, on your column and books and all your your writing! I can appreciate what you are managing to do: Preliminary to, and in the midst of a divorce I raised three boys; twins followed by a singleton, all while holding down full time orchestral positions and teaching, going to law school and then practicing law. Now I’m wishing I had kept a diary to remember all the details. Have I got stories to tell, if only I could find the time! I am in awe of your organizational skills and acumen in time management! Keep writing and inspiring us!
Thank you so much, Wendy! I can’t imagine how you could raise three boys, work full time AND teach AND go to law school! Kudos to you! It is never too late to start writing. I think you should go for it!
Great quote!!!And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
